Redirects

Where: Content → Redirects

When you rename a page's web address, retire a category, or move a product, links to the old address live on — in search results, in buyers' bookmarks, in your own emails. A redirect sends anyone who opens the old path to the new one.

Adding a redirect

  1. In the From field type the old storefront path, e.g. /old-path — always relative to your storefront, starting with /.
  2. In the To field type where it should go, e.g. /new-path (another storefront path).
  3. Press Add redirect. The table lists every redirect with its From path and the HTTP Code the storefront answers with.

To remove one, use the delete action on its row. Until you add any, the page reads "No redirects yet".

tip

Add a redirect before you publish the rename: change the page's web address in Pages, add the redirect from the old path, then publish. Search engines transfer ranking to the new address when the old one answers with a permanent redirect.
